Seems to be a lot more child friendly. Lots of hands on activities including dressing up. They put on activity days and also hold weddings. Interesting displays. Still have the stuffed animals! Worth a visit for half an hour.
A very nice, well laid out museum with mixtures of old and new. The place has lots for the children to interact with and holds events such as dinosaur day and world War one day. There is a lift for disabled people and all areas are accessible
Museum quite interesting and a wider mix of items than we had expected. No art gallery as implied in the name. We were disappointed that they don't allow even seasoned musicians to play the grand piano. Instruments need to be played or they are as useless as Stradivarius violins in a bank vault. The chap on duty "welcoming" people couldn't be bothered to take his eyes off the computer screen to give us his full attention. The building is superb and the architecture amazing. It's worth visiting just to see the panelling, staircase and the balcony in the older part.
An eclectic mix of terrific displays. Well laid out and spacious. Great building, 15 mins from the Station. Access throughout the building. Very friendly. Pay and display car park close by. Free - donations alwayswelcomed.
Local history museums vary a lot but this is a rather good example of the species. There's a good mix of interesting exhibits. They're presented well in a space that looks cared for.
