Usual good foodstuff nice little distraction whilst in town for something else.
This is a fairly standard example of this detail chain located in the more modern shopping centre in the town.Once the items on sale were to a very high standard, but these days, with exception of the food range, the quality, unlike the prices, has fallen.This store is laid out to the standard M&S pattern, staff are pleasant and helpful, but rather thin on the ground, as with most other branches.
Just when I think M&S can't get any more infuriating, they are!. My online goods arrived without a delivery note enclosed. One item needs to be returned. I want to take it to the Hastings store so rang to see if they would accept without the missing delivery note. When I ring I get a recorded message asking what my call is about. Then I am given irrelevant recorded advice to my query with no option to talk to a person. I ring head office and as I type I have been holding on for 15 mins. Unhappy customer.
Only buy food here with some nice quality items you can't get in the supermarkets (luxury chocolates for instance). Regular groceries generally more expensive though but hey, it's M&S.
I think it does the best food compared to anywhere else. It's more expensive, but if you want quality, this is your place. There clotted cream rice pudding is gorgeous. If you put the food on a pjate and served it up. You could quite easily say you cooked it from fresh. Marks and sparks is quality. It's that simple.
